The city shall provide an ambulance service for the inhabitants of the city and its environs. The service shall be operated under the supervision and control of the city manager who shall hire such personnel and obtain, equip, and maintain such vehicles required to furnish such service as may be authorized by the governing body.

The following fees shall be charged to each patient occupying an ambulance.

(a)   BLS Non-Emergency Run                  $500

(b)   BLS Emergency                                 $700

(c)   ALS Non-Emergency                         $550

(d)   ALS Emergency                                $875

(e)   ALS-2 Advanced ALS                       $1,050

(e)   SCT-Specialty Care Transport            $1,200

All of the above runs receive an additional charge of $18.00 per loaded mile.

(g)   For each run within or outside the City limits where a needed medical assessment, medical intervention or medication is given and the patient refuses transport, a charge of $200.00 will be charged.

(h)   For each run within or outside the City limits where no medical intervention is needed, only a physical assist is given and the patient refuses transport, a charge of $100.00 will be charged with the following exception. A patient will be allowed three non-emergency physical assists within a year before being charged.

(i)    For each run within or outside the City limits where a needed medical assessment, medical intervention or medication is given and the patient is then transferred to any other Emergency Medical Service the appropriate base rate in the above table will apply.  (Unless a Mass Casualty situation in which a patient would fall under City of Hoisington Mass Casualty Policy).

(j)    When transferring an EMS Flight Crew between any hospital and airport the base BLS Non-emergency rate, plus mileage will apply.

These fees may be revised through inclusion in the City of Hoisington’s Resolution Concerning Service, License and Permit Fees Within the Corporate Limits and Service Area of the City of Hoisington, Kansas.
